Data Processing via Meta Platform Features
“Med Valley” (“the Application”), when running locally on your headset, uses specific platform features offered by Meta Platforms, Inc. (“Meta”). When you utilize these features within our Application, your headset requests and uses data or services provided by Meta. Meta processes data associated with your Meta account to enable these features, as described in their Privacy Policy. SimTec MD Inc. does not operate dedicated servers to store this Meta-provided data, nor does it store this data on its own remote servers. The Application on your headset uses Meta-provided information locally to deliver the functionalities described below.The Meta Platform Features our Application uses locally on your headset, the data Meta provides for these, and how our Application uses this information:
User ID:
- What data is provided by Meta for local use: Your Oculus User ID (a unique identifier assigned by Meta).
- How our Application uses this Meta-provided data locally on your headset: The Application on your headset uses your Oculus User ID, provided by Meta, primarily to verify active subscription status for content access and to identify users for the purpose of establishing and managing locally hosted multiplayer or collaborative sessions.
User Profile:
- What data is provided by Meta for local use: Your Oculus username and profile photo associated with your Meta account.
- How our Application uses this Meta-provided data locally on your headset: If required by a Meta UI element (e.g., in a friends list or invite pop-up initiated by the Application), your Oculus username and profile photo, provided by Meta, may be displayed within that Meta UI. The Application does not otherwise store or persistently use this information for its own features.
In-App Purchases (IAP) and/or Downloadable Content:
- What service/data is provided by Meta for local use: Meta’s store provides the IAP service for subscriptions. Meta processes your payment information, transaction details, purchase history, and links these to your Oculus User ID. Our Application receives confirmation of subscription purchase status from Meta.
- How our Application uses this Meta-provided service/data locally on your headset: The Application on your headset uses the subscription purchase confirmation from Meta to enable access to the specific content or features covered by your active subscription.
Subscriptions:
- What data is provided by Meta for local use: Your subscription status (active, expired, etc.) and billing period information, linked to your Oculus User ID.
- How our Application uses this Meta-provided data locally on your headset: The Application on your headset requests your current subscription status from Meta and uses this information locally to grant or restrict access to subscription-based content or features within the Application.
Deep Linking:
- What service/data is provided by Meta for local use: Meta’s platform provides information about the specific destination within our Application you intend to access (e.g., a particular learning module or a friend’s hosted session).
- How our Application uses this Meta-provided service/data locally on your headset: When initiated, the Application on your headset uses this information from Meta to navigate you directly to the specified content or collaborative session, streamlining access for the local session.
Friends:
- What service/data is provided by Meta for local use: Meta’s platform provides access to its standard friends list UI/functionality. If you use this feature, Meta handles the display of your friends.
- How our Application uses this Meta-provided service/data locally on your headset: The Application on your headset may initiate Meta’s standard friends list UI to allow you to select friends, for example, to send invites for locally hosted sessions. The Application itself does not store your friends list; it relies on Meta’s UI and uses the selected User ID(s) provided by Meta for invite purposes.
Invites:
- What service/data is provided by Meta for local use: Meta’s platform facilitates sending and receiving invites, using Oculus User IDs and session information. This typically occurs through Meta’s standard UI.
- How our Application uses this Meta-provided service/data locally on your headset: The Application on your headset uses Meta’s invite system (often via Meta’s UI) to allow you to send invitations to friends or receive them. Upon acceptance, the Application uses the relevant User ID(s) provided by Meta to facilitate joining or hosting multiplayer/collaborative sessions locally on a user’s headset.
Parties:
- What service/data is provided by Meta for local use: Meta’s platform provides its standard Party system UI and functionality, including User IDs of party members.
- How our Application uses this Meta-provided service/data locally on your headset: If you are part of a Meta Party, the Application on your headset may use Meta’s Party system (often via Meta’s UI) to help your group join the same locally hosted multiplayer or collaborative session together, using User ID(s) provided by Meta to coordinate.
Data Redirection Using Photon Realtime (Local Session Facilitation):
For certain real-time multiplayer functionalities, the Application on your headset uses Photon Realtime.- What data is processed by Photon (facilitating local sessions): During an active session hosted by a user’s headset, data such as in-game actions, position, and interactions are transmitted via Photon’s servers to enable synchronized experiences between your headset and other participants’ headsets.
- How our Application uses this (for local sessions): This processing by Photon is essential for the real-time communication and data synchronization required for interactive multiplayer/collaborative sessions that are hosted on a user’s headset and occur locally among participants. This data is transient for the specific session and is not collected or stored by SimTec MD Inc. on any remote servers. Please refer to Photon’s privacy policy for details on their data handling.
